Over the course of the semester, I learned many things. I
really have a stronger grasp on how to handle conflict and what to do in a
conflicting situation. I enjoyed the projects that we did. It was really
beneficial to me to be able to try out the methods in my personal life. I also
never would have know how I handled conflict without tracking my conflicts and
tracking how they changed over a few weeks. One concept that I realized that I
will use in any conflict situation is the S-TLC system. After learning about
it, the steps to handling conflict made more sense. I think that the greatest
thing that I learned this semester is how beneficial conflict is. Before, I thought
that conflict was unnecessary and troublesome but now I see its benefits and I
see how important it is to how people grow as individuals. I really learned a
lot in this class.
I agree with everything that you have to say. I enjoyed the many things we learned about conflict. Like you I also feel that I have a stronger grasp on how to deal with conflict in my life. I enjoyed how you talked about using the methods you learned in your everyday life. I too week to week used my skills I learned from this class in my everyday life. I found it fun and I have never been this into a class before. The STLC concept was also my favorite concept that I will always use in conflict situations. Great post.
ReplyDeleteAfter taking this class, I too feel like I have a better handle on understanding the benefits of conflict. Tracking my conflicts was also a very beneficial thing for me. I realized that I don’t have a lot of conflicts in my life, but it was interesting to pinpoint the ones I do have and analyze them.
ReplyDeleteThe S-TLC system is something I will incorporate into my life. It is a very concrete concept that has a lot of positive outcomes that are involved with it. I also felt that assertive communication was the most important thing I learned in this class. I now try every day to be assertive and try to educate others on the ideas of having a relationship-centered orientation.
This class was a joy and taught me a lot about conflict and most importantly, how conflicts can be a benefit.
